Acaulescent perennial with one or a few leaf rosettes. Leaves distinctly petiolate; petiole with tough vascular strands; blade elliptic-ovate, with strong parallel or curved veins, entire or irregularly serrate. Scapes equalling or exceeding leaves, striate or slightly sulcate, short-pubescent. Spike usually 4–12 cm, linear. Bracts ± equalling sepals, glabrous, green. Corolla tube c. 2 mm, glabrous; lobes less than 1 mm, triangular. Seeds numerous.
