Melilotus siculus (Turra) B.D. Jacks.
Melilotus segetalis: Ascending to erect, glabrous annual, 20–50 cm tall. Stipules lanceolate with broad, somewhat dentate base. Leaflets of lower leaves broadly obovate, those of upper leaves narrower, all finely but sharply serrate in upper half. Peduncles c. twice as long as petiole of subtending leaf. Racemes 2–3 cm, slender, 15–30-flowered, moderately elongating in fruit. Corolla 4–6 mm, yellow. Legume 3–4 mm, shortly stipitate, obovoid, obtuse, somewhat compressed, with conspicuous, dense, concentric raised veins, pale brown when ripe.
Resembling M. segetalis, but differing in the following characters: Racemes shorter than subtending leaf, 4–10-flowered; legume 5–7 mm, not stipitate, obliquely ovoid, acute, dark brown when ripe.
