Aira elegans Roem. & Schult. συνώνυμο: Aira elegantissima Schur
Erect, very slender annual with one to several culms 8–20(–30) cm tall. Leaves mostly in lower half of culm, flat or convolute, 0.5–1 mm wide, with scabridulous margins. Ligule up to 3 mm, acute. Panicle ovoid in outline, very open. Pedicels 2–5 times as long as spikelets, filiform, abruptly widened at apex. Spikelets very small (1.5–2.5 mm), with 2 hermaphrodite florets. Glumes subequal, ± membranous and somewhat shiny, longer than florets, acute. Lemma 2/3 as long as glumes, scabridulous; at least lemma of upper floret with a dorsal awn much exceeding glumes. Anthers 0.3–0.5 mm.
