Astragalus spruneri Boiss.
Astragalus monspessulanus: Acaulescent perennial with a stout, sparingly branched woody stock. Leaves imparipinnate; leaflets (7–)10–20 pairs, sparsely pubescent with short, medifixed, white hairs. Peduncle equalling or exceeding subtending leaf. Raceme obovoid and rather dense at anthesis, slightly elongating in fruit, with 6–25 short-pedicellate, erectopatent flowers. Calyx tube broadly cylindrical, usually suffused purple, with black and white hairs. Corolla usually tawny pink or purplish; standard 20–28 mm. Legume 30–50 × 3–5 mm, linear, cylindrical, straight or slightly curved, appressed-puberulent.
Resembling A. monspessulanus, but differing in the following characters: Leaves silvery-sericeous when young, sparsely to densely appressed-pubescent on both sides when mature; leaflets 6–10(–12) pairs; legume 14–20 × 5–7 mm, narrowly ellipsoid to narrowly obovoid.
