Glabrous, decumbent to suberect, much-branched annual 5–30 cm. Stem sharply 4-angled. Leaves opposite, sessile, usually 4–12 mm, ovate-lanceolate, finely papillose. Flowers solitary in leaf axils, on filiform pedicels generally exceeding subtending leaf, recurved in fruit. Calyx 3.5–5 mm, divided nearly to base into linear-lanceolate lobes, not concealing corolla in bud. Στεφάνη rotate, lobed almost to base; lobes 4–7 mm, overlapping, obovate, obtuse, μπλε ή κόκκινο; upper margins usually with numerous, short, 3-celled glandular hairs with spherical terminal cell. Capsule 4–6 mm, globose.
