Slender, erect annual, sometimes branched from base, 10–40 cm tall. Hairs absent or simple and furcate. Basal leaves in a persistent rosette, elliptic-ovate to spathulate, subentire. Cauline leaves few, smaller. Inflorescence a simple raceme, much elongating in fruit. Petals 3–4 mm, spathulate, white to cream. Fruiting pedicels and siliquae patent to ascending. Siliquae linear, 10–20 × 0.5–1 mm, glabrous. Seeds in 1 row, minute (c. 0.5 mm), pale reddish-brown.

Κοινό καλλιεργούμενο φυτό (Ραπανάκι) και περιστασιακά σε περιβάλλοντα με ανθρωπογενή επιβάρυνση. Διαφέρει απο το Raphanus raphanistrum στα ακόλουθα: Taproot swollen, red; leaves somewhat fleshy, ± glabrous; fruit 6–20 mm in diam., spongy, not or only slightly constricted between the 4–10 seeds.

Coronopus didymus: Annual or biennial; stems 5–15(–35) cm, decumbent to ascending, glabrous or sparsely pilose. Leaves pinnatisect with pinnatifid segments, glabrous. Racemes axillary, remaining rather dense in fruit. Petals minute (c. 0.5 mm) or absent. Fruiting pedicels somewhat longer than silicula. Siliculae c. 1.5 × 2.5 mm, somewhat compressed, emarginate, reticulate, rugose, consisting of 2 reniform, 1-seeded, indehiscent units; style very short or absent.

Differing from C. didymus in the following characters: Petals 1–1.5 mm, longer than sepals, white; siliculae larger (c. 2.5 × 3.5 mm), rugose-verrucose with raised ridges, narrowed at apex into the short style.
