Ophrys bombyliflora Link

Plant short and compact, generally 5–20 cm tall, with 1–5 flowers in a relatively dense spike. Flowers small, bumblebee-like. Sepals 9–12 mm, obliquely ovate to broadly elliptical, patent or ± reflexed, yellowish-green. Petals short (3–4 mm), triangular-ovate, yellowish-green. Labellum 8–10 mm, with dark, velvety brown ground colour, with well-developed, bulging, shaggy side lobes; middle lobe obovate, obtuse to emarginate, with a short, ± concealed point; mirror obscure, H-shaped. Column short, rounded.
