Equisetum ramosissimum Desf.

Fertile and vegetative shoots similar, all green, usually much branched from base. Stems 20–60 cm tall, 3–6 mm in diam., 8–20-grooved, with central hollow 1/2–2/3 of diameter. Sheaths of main stem much shorter than internodes, with short, often blackish teeth. Branches slender, in irregular whorls or sometimes lacking. Lowest internode of branches c. 1/3 as long as corresponding sheath of main shoot. Strobilus terminal on main stem and sometimes also on upper branches, dense, apiculate.
