Ophrys scolopax Cav.

Plant slender, generally (10–)20–50 cm tall, with (2–)4–15 flowers in a lax spike. Sepals comparatively large, (7–)10–16 mm, ovate to broadly lanceolate, all spreading, the middle curved but not bent over the column, usually pink. Petals 2–6 mm, narrowly triangular to linear, somewhat shaggy. Labellum elliptic-obovate, convex with strongly recurved sides, 3-lobed, shaggy on lateral lobes, otherwise ± glabrous; lateral lobes forming conspicuous bulges or horns; mid-lobe with a conspicuous, forward-directed appendage; gound colour brown; mirror conspicuous, consisting of an H- or X-shaped or usually more complicated, yellowish figure. Column long, acute to subobtuse.

Ίσως η Ophrys scolopax subsp. cornuta (Steven) E.G. Camus.
