Herniaria hirsuta L.
Herniaria glabra: Annual or short-lived perennial, whole plant light green to yellowish-green. Stems numerous, 10–20 cm, slender, prostrate but not rooting at the nodes, glabrous or puberulent. Leaves of primary stems 3–5 mm, elliptical to narrowly obovate, glabrous or sometimes scabrid at margins. Stipules ciliate to fimbriate. Flowers 5-merous, 5–10 in glomerules, which are ± contiguous along branches. Sepals glabrous or sparsely ciliate near apex. Stamens 5. Stigmas subsessile. Fruit distinctly exceeding sepals.
Differing from H. glabra in the following characters: Whole plant greyish-green, patently short-pubescent throughout (old leaves sometimes glabrescent); stamens 2–3(–5); fruit equalling sepals.
