Ranunculus muricatus L.
Glabrous or sparsely patent-pilose annual. Stem(s) 1 to several, ascending to erect, 5–30 cm, rather thick and ± fistulose below, sparingly branched. Blade of basal leaves triangular-ovate to suborbicular, 3-partite to 2/3 or more, the lobes shallowly lobed or coarsely dentate. Flowers solitary in leaf axils. Sepals deflexed. Petals 5–8 mm, narrowly obovate, pale yellow, caducous. Receptacle sparsely pilose. Achenes rather few, in a spherical head. Body of achene 4(–5) × 3(–4) mm, strongly muricate with sharp projections c. 1 mm; beak c. 2.5 mm, falcate, greenish.
