Sarcocornia fruticosa (L.) A.J.Scott συνώνυμο: Salicornia fruticosa (L.) L.
Arthrocnemum macrostachyum: Much-branched, glabrous, perennial herb or subshrub up to 40 cm tall. Stems terete, segmented with internodes 5–7 mm; old stems ± woody, young stems yellowish-green, succulent. Leaves opposite, reduced to connate scales forming a cup around the stem. Inflorescence dense, elongate, cylindrical. Flowers inconspicuous, sunken in undivided cavities of inflorescence axis with only the 1 or 2 stamens appearing. Seeds c. 0.8 × 0.5 mm, oblong, dark brown to blackish, finely striate, rugose-papillose.
Resembling Arthrocnemum macrostachyum, but differing in the following characters: Flowers completely immersed in a 3-partite cavity of inflorescencce axis and fused with the fertile segment; seeds dark brown, with short conical hairs.
