Plantago albicans L.
Loosely tufted with a long, sparingly branched, slightly woody rootstock bearing terminal leaf rosettes. Leaves suberect, 4–15 cm long, linear-lanceolate to -oblanceolate, often with undulate margins, sericeous-lanate. Scapes usually solitary from each rosette, twice as long as leaves, terete, tomentose. Flowers in an oblong-cylindrical spike usually 2–5 cm, often lax below. Bracts c. 4 mm, broadly ovate with prominent midvein but otherwise membranous, ciliate. Sepals similar to bracts. Corolla tube glabrous; lobes c. 2 mm, ovate, spreading to deflexed, straw-coloured to brownish. Stamens long exserted, with white anthers. Seeds 2, c. 2.5 mm.
