Hyoseris scabra L.

Hyoseris lucida: Πολυετές με ξυλώδη κεντρική ρίζα. Leaves all basal, narrowly oblong in outline, runcinate-pinnatifid with triangular, subentire lobes, subglabrous above, ± papillose or farinose along midrib beneath. Scapes simple, suberect, usually 10–30 cm, scarcely swollen in fruit. Involucre campanulate. Phyllaries in two rows, the inner 10–14 mm, lanceolate, subobtuse, glabrous or somewhat farinose. Receptacle flat, without scales. Ligules lemon yellow. Achenes 8–12 mm, ± compressed, pale brown, puberulent at least on margins, some of the outer with very short pappus, the middle and inner with pappus of simple white hairs equalling achene.

Διαφέρει απο την H. lucida στα ακόλουθα: Μονοετές, with thin taproot; leaf lobes coarsely dentate; scapes 3–10 cm, often procumbent, distinctly swollen especially in upper part in fruit; involucre smaller and narrower, scarcely exceeding peduncle in width; achenes 6–8 mm, dark brown, di- or trimorphic, with pappus of rigid hairs or scales.
