Crucianella latifolia L.

Slender annual 10–30 cm tall, erect from an often ascending base. Stem simple or sparingly branched, quadrangular, retrorsely puberulent at least below. Leaves in whorls of (4–)6, the lowest short and obovate, the middle and upper 10–22 mm, linear-lanceolate. Terminal spike long (generally 6–12 cm), narrow, rather lax at least below. Bracts lanceolate with broad hyaline margins, connate for 1/4 or more. Corolla 5–7.5 mm, somewhat exceeding subtending bract, 4-merous, cream to yellowish-brown. Mericarps finely granulate.
