Vicia peregrina L.

Slender annual, sparingly branched from base, 20–40 cm tall, sparsely and shortly appressed-pubescent throughout. Leaves 2–5-paired; stipules small, semi-hastate, dark; leaflets linear, truncate and apiculate; tendril simple or branched. Flowers solitary in upper leaf axils, on pedicels 4–10 mm. Calyx campanulate, slightly gibbous; teeth unequal, the longest somewhat exceeding tube. Corolla 12–20 mm, usually dark bluish-purple; limb of standard twice as long as claw. Legume 20–35 × 5–10 mm, oblong-elliptical, strongly compressed, tapering to a short beak, appressed-puberulent. Seeds 3–7, subglobose, smooth.
