Thapsia garganica L.
Robust perennial, generally 40–80 cm tall. Rootstock crowned with fibrous collar. Stem stout, terete, striate, sparingly branched. Basal leaves large, 3- or 4-pinnate into linear ultimate segments. Upper leaves ± reduced to conspicuous sheaths. Rays of central umbel 8–18, subequal, 8–12 cm long; bracts lacking. Petals yellow, not radiate. Fruit 12–20 mm, dorsally compressed, broadly oblong, with wide, thin, shining lateral wings.
