Παλλενίς η αγκαθωτή (Pallenis spinosa (L.) Cass.)

Erect, rather rigid annual or short-lived perennial, 20–70 cm tall, moderately branched above, soft-pubescent throughout. Lower leaves spathulate, the upper oblong and semi-amplexicaul. Outer phyllaries coriaceous at base, with a leaf-like, spine-tipped appendage up to 30 mm. Ligules numerous, 5–8 mm, linear, bright yellow. Achenes dimorphic, the outer flat and winged; pappus of short scales.
