Asteriscus aquaticus (L.) Less.

 Erect, rather rigid, sparsely grey-pubescent annual, 5–20 cm tall, pseudo-dichotomously branched above. Leaves oblanceolate, entire, ± obtuse. Outer phyllaries ovate and coriaceous below, with leaf-like, obtuse appendage up to 20 mm. Ligules c. 4 mm, 3-dentate at apex, lemon yellow, pubescent beneath. Achenes 1.5–2.0 mm, with pappus of acute scales.
