Malcolmia flexuosa (Sm.) Sm.
Annual, usually much-branched from base, 6–30 cm tall. Basal leaves usually persistent at anthesis, long-petiolate, somewhat succulent; blade shiny light green above, often tinged purple or violet, elliptical to obovate, entire or remotely serrulate, with appressed 2-fid hairs only. Inflorescence lax, flexuous, ebracteate. Sepals 6–10 mm, erect, the inner saccate at base. Petals 12–26 mm, with claw somewhat longer than limb; the latter pinkish-violet to lilac with whitish or yellowish base. Pedicels 5–20 mm, thickened in fruit and about as broad as siliqua; beak usually 2–5 mm. Seeds 1.3–2.3 mm.
