Frankenia hirsuta L.
Procumbent, trailing perennial herb or subshrub up to 40 cm, much-branched and ± mat-forming; stem densely clothed with short, whitish hairs or bristles. Leaves opposite, decussate, linear-oblong, with revolute margins, densely puberulent at least beneath. Flowers in condensed cymose clusters terminal on stem and branches. Calyx c. 5 mm, narrowly cylindrical, ribbed. Petals 5, free, 6–7 mm, spathulate, white or pink. Fruit a 3-angled capsule 2.5–3 mm.
