Dense, rigid, much-branched shrub 40–100 cm tall; branches terete, sulcate; twigs transformed into sharp, straight spines. Leaves small, subsessile, 3-foliolate; leaflets linear, appressed-pubescent. Flowers solitary, short-pedicellate in the axils of leaf-like or simple bracts. Calyx c. 3 mm, campanulate, 2-lipped, puberulent; lips almost as long as tube. Corolla 8–10 mm, bright yellow; standard somewhat shorter than keel, both sericeous. Legume ovoid, acuminate, appressed-pubescent, 1-seeded.
