Perennial, usually with numerous procumbent stems 20–50 cm, sometimes forming dense cushions. Whole plant greyish-green, with a mixture of stiff, somewhat tubercle-based hairs and short, eglandular hairs; glandular hairs usually lacking. Basal leaves oblanceolate, the cauline oblong, obtuse. Racemes long, many-flowered; bracts equalling or slightly exceeding calyx. Corolla bright blue, glabrous outside. Nutlets c. 2 mm, recurved, reticulate-tuberculate.
