Iris tuberosa L. x Hermodactylus tuberosus (L.) Mill.
Rhizome short, branched, with 2 or 3 stubby “fingers”. Stem 20–35 cm, slender, suberect. Leaves mostly basal, linear, square in cross-section, exceeding stem, becoming flaccid. Flowers solitary, suberect to nodding, usually pale yellowish except for the recurved, dark velvety brownish-purple limb of falls (rarely all yellow). Outer spathe sometimes overtopping flower. Hypanthial tube c. 5 mm. Falls 40–50 mm; limb somewhat shorter than claw. Standards erect, oblanceolate, bifid. Capsule nodding, ellipsoid, shortly beaked.
