Κρουπίνα η κρουπίναστρος (Crupina crupinastrum (Moris) Vis.)

Slender, erect annual, sparingly branched, 20–70 cm tall. Basal and lower cauline leaves pinnatisect, with linear, deeply serrate lobes. Involucre up to 20 mm, cylindrical to narrowly ovoid, green or purplish. Receptacle with scales. Florets reddish-purple, regularly 5-lobed. Achenes c. 4 mm, narrowly obovoid, somewhat compressed and keeled in lower half, with a narrowly elliptical, lateral hilum, dark purplish-brown, somewhat sericeous above; pappus of several series of dark purplish, erecto-patent bristles, the outermost very short, the inner exceeding achene.

Μοιάζει πολύ με την Crupina vulgaris αλλά διαφέρει στα ακόλουθα: Leaf segments entire or shallowly and irregularly serrate; achenes broadly cylindrical (not compressed), obtuse at base, with a broadly elliptical to suborbicular, basal hilum. Reported differences in the number of florets and other characters are scarcely consistent. Συνήθως συνυπάρχουν αλλά δεν τα έχουμε ξεχωρίσει επαρκώς.
