Bushy shrub, generally 70–130 cm tall; young shoots herbaceous, greyish-stellate-tomentose. Leaves short-petiolate; blade generally 3–9 cm, broadly lanceolate, truncate or broadly cuneate at base, entire or crenulate, somewhat coriaceous, greenish above, densely white-stellate-tomentose and distinctly reticulate-veined beneath. Flowers in 1–3 dense, well separated, 12–30-flowered verticillasters. Bracteoles somewhat shorter than calyx, usually elliptical, acute, glandular- and eglandular-lanate. Calyx 15–20 mm, broadly tubular; teeth short (1–3 mm) and broad, shortly acuminate. Corolla 25–35 mm, golden yellow, stellate-tomentose. Nutlets often pilose at apex.
