Hypericum perforatum L.

Perennial herb, usually erect, 20–60 cm tall; stem 2-lined, with internodes somewhat shorter than leaves. Leaves opposite, sessile, oblong-elliptic to broadly linear, glabrous, with some intramarginal black glands. Inflorescence usually many-flowered, with ascending branches. Sepals lanceolate, acute to acuminate, entire, without or with few black glands. Petals 10–15 mm, golden yellow, not tinged red in bud, with some intramarginal black glands.

Hypericum empetrifolium Willd. (Αγούδουρας - Βάλσαμο)

Erect to prostrate, much-branched shrublet. Leaves in whorls of 3, 4–12 × 0.5–2 mm, ericoid with revolute margins and translucent glandular dots, fresh green, glabrous. Sepals c. 2 mm, elliptic-oblong, obtuse, with subsessile black glands on the margins. Petals 5–10 mm, bright yellow without reddish tinge and without black glands, deciduous. Capsule ovoid, with oblique, swollen lateral vittae.

Glabrous perennial; stems 15–40 cm, with 2 raised lines, with many divaricately spreading branches, whole plant often broadly pyramidal, sometimes forming entangled masses. Leaves opposite, sessile, oblong-triangular, with undulate margins and some intramarginal black glands. Flowers solitary or in few-flowered cymes. Sepals oblong-lanceolate, entire or denticulate, without black glands. Petals 5–7 mm, yellow without reddish tinge. Capsule ovoid, with longitudinal vittae.
