Ophrys fusca Link subsp. fusca
Plant usually 10–30 cm tall, with 2–6(–10) small to medium-sized flowers. Sepals usually 8–12 mm, ovate, subobtuse, pale green to yellowish-green, the lateral spreading, the medium curved over the column. Petals 4–10 mm, narrowly oblong, olive green to pale brownish. Labellum usually 15–20 mm, narrowly obovate in outline, with a distinct longitudinal furrow at the base, 3-lobed with rather large, ± flat lateral lobes and a broadly rectangular to broadly obovate, emarginate middle lobe; ground colour purplish-brown; mirror simple, ± fishtail-like, dull grey to shiny bluish. Column short, rounded.
subsp fusca: Labellum ± downward-curving, in cross-section distinctly vaulted, with or without a narrow yellow margin; side lobes ± downcurved
