Juncus subulatus Forssk.
Perennial with robust, creeping rhizome. Sheaths reddish-brown. Stems erect, 40–120 cm tall, 3–4 mm in diam., slightly striate, greyish-green. Cauline leaves resembling stems, not septate. Inflorescence rather lax, many-flowered; flowers solitary, each with 2 involucral bracteoles. Perianth segments 2.5–3.5 mm, subequal, pale greenish-brown, the outer shortly cuspidate, the inner acute with broad scarious margins. Capsule equalling perianth, ellipsoid-trigonous, subacute, brown and shiny.
