Silene cretica L.

Bright green annual, eglandular-pubescent below, with viscid sections above. Stem erect, 15–50 cm, sparingly branched above. Basal leaves spathulate, the upper linear. Flowers few, in very lax dichasia. Calyx 9–12 mm, glabrous, ovoid and broadest below middle in fruit. Petal limb 4–8 mm, obcordate, bright pink, with rather long, narrowly triangular coronal scales. Anthophore 1.5–2.5 mm. Capsule ovoid, firm, included in calyx. Seeds 0.8–1.0 mm, greyish-brown.
