Achnatherum bromoides (L.) P. Beauv. συνώνυμο: Stipa bromoides
Densely tufted and with short, ± woody rhizomes. Culms 40–90 cm tall, glabrous. Ligule very short (up to 0.4 mm). Leaf blade linear-setaceous, usually convolute, tough, glabrous or slightly pilose above, greyish-green. Panicle very narrow, contracted, with few, 1-flowered spikelets. Upper glume 8–11 mm. Lemma hairy in lower 2/3, with an apical, straight, erect awn 12–23 mm inserted between 2 short teeth.
