Lathyrus aphaca L.

Trailing or scrambling, glabrous, ± glaucous annual 10–40 cm tall; stem simple or sparingly branched, unwinged. Stipules usually 10–25 mm, broadly ovate, shortly hastate or sagittate; rest of leaf reduced to a simple tendril. Flowers solitary or sometimes paired, on long, slender peduncles. Calyx teeth subequal, longer than tube. Corolla 10–15 mm, varying from cream to deep yellow. Legume linear-oblong, 18–30 × 4–6 mm. Seeds c. 2.5 mm, smooth, often with small purple dots.
