Puccinellia festuciformis (Host) Parl.
Puccinellia distans: Perennial, usually caespitose and forming small tufts; culms 15–40 cm. Leaf blade 2–4 mm wide, usually flat, rather thick and ribbed, greyish-green; ligule 1–2 mm, membranous. Panicle usually contracted. Lower panicle-branches 2–6, with spikelets crowded in distal half. Spikelets 4–6 mm, oblong, 3–7-flowered, lax, with rhachilla segments ± visible between the florets, often suffused purple. Glumes unequal, much shorter than spikelet, the upper 1.5–2 mm. Lemma obscurely 5-veined, rounded on back, minutely ciliate on margins, obtuse or truncate, minutely hairy at base. Anthers 0.7–1 mm.
Resembling P. distans, but leaves usually folded; ligule longer, acute; spikelets larger; upper glume 3.5–4 mm; lemma hairy in lower 1/3; anthers 1.5–2 mm.
