Picris echioides L. συνώνυμο Helminthotheca echioides (L.) Holub 

Usually annual, with several moderately branched stems up to 80 cm. Whole plant ± hispid, with simple and glochidiate hairs and bristles. Leaves remotely dentate or sinuate, the lower broadly oblanceolate, the upper oblong to ovate. Capitula solitary or in small clusters. Involucre c. 10 mm in diam. at anthesis, accrescent in fruit. Outer phyllaries usually 5, ovate, foliaceous; the inner lanceolate. Receptacle naked. Florets ligulate, yellow. Achenes ± dimorphic, beaked, with pappus of plumose hairs.
