Allosorus acrosticus (Balb.) Christenh. συνώνυμα: Cheilanthes acrostica (Balb.) Tod.Cheilanthes pteridioides (Reichard) C. Chr.
Rhizome short and stout, ± erect, with reddish-brown scales and tough roots. Leaves in a dense tuft, generally 10–20 cm, eglandular, smelling of coumarin. Petiole rather rigid and robust, about as long as blade, dark reddish-brown, with linear-lanceolate scales below. Blade 2-pinnate, triangular-ovate in outline, dull dark green; pinnules broadly oblong, convex, shallowly divided into rounded lobes. Sori ± confluent and covering underside of pinnules at maturity; pseudoindusium (reflexed margin of fertile segment) membranous, irregularly lobed and shortly ciliate.
