Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle

Swingle is a fast-growing, dioecious tree native to China. It was brought to Europe in the mid-18th century and has become invasive in some countries as well as in North America, Australia, etc. In Greece, including the mapping area, it is commonly colonizing vacant plots in towns and villages (e.g. in every larger settlement on Chios, Raus obs. 2013), but is scarcely spreading into the natural vegetation. It has large, pinnate leaves with broadly lanceolate leaflets, and inconspicuous flowers in wide panicles; the fruit is a samara c. 2.5 × 1 cm.

Το λένε και Αίλανθο ή και ψευτοκαρυδιά. Πρόκειται για δένδρο που κατάγεται απο την Κίνα και το έχουν εισάγει οι περισσότεροι δήμοι για να δείξουν ένα γρήγορο έργο καθώς θεωρείται απο τα δένδρα "ταχείας ανάπτυξης". Πολλαπλασιάζεται εύκολα και φυτρώνει ακόμα και μέσα απο τσιμέντα εκτοπίζοντας τα γηγενή. Εαν αφεθεί ελεύθερο σχηματίζει εκτεταμένες αποικίες, όπως σε κάποιες μεριές στην κοίτη του Ερασίνου.
