Vicia sativa L.

Annual, pubescent to subglabrous, ascending to suberect, usually 20–60 cm tall. Leaves 4–8-paired; stipules semihastate; leaflets linear to obcordate; tendril usually branched. Flowers 1–2(–3), subsessile in leaf axils. Calyx narrowly campanulate, almost regular, with subequal teeth. Corolla 15–25 mm, usually pink or purple. Legume very variable in size, generally with 6–12 subglobose, smooth seeds.
