Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill. (Φραγκοσυκιά)

Οπουντία η ινδική συκή (Opuntia ficus-indica (L.) Mill.)
Robust, stem-succulent shrub 2–4 m tall, with spreading, jointed branches; joints flattened, oblong-elliptical, usually 20–40 cm, with or without spines appearing from tubercles on surface. Flowers solitary, sessile, lateral on the leaf-like stem joints; hypanthium exceeding ovary, ellipsoid, ± spiny. Perianth segmements numerous, usually yellow. Stamens numerous. Fruit broadly ellipsoid, fleshy, edible.
