Daucus involucratus Sm.

Slender, sparingly branched annual up to 30 cm tall, with stem shorter than peduncles, subglabrous or sparsely setulose. Leaves few, 2-pinnate, with oblong-lanceolate segments. Peduncles long, suberect. Rays 3–5, short, much exceeded by the pinnatisect bracts. Petals minute (less than 1 mm), white or purplish. Fruit 3–4.5 mm; secondary ridges with long, slender spines confluent at base to form a narrow wing.
