Ούρτικα η δίοικος (Urtica dioica L.)
Dioecious perennial with extensively creeping rhizome, forming patches of male or female plants. Stem erect, sparingly branched, usually 40–100 cm tall. Stem and leaves with multicellular stinging hairs mixed with shorter, non-stinging hairs. Leaves opposite; blade usually 5–15 cm, oblong-lanceolate, 2.5–3 times as long as wide, acute to acuminate, rounded or subcordate at base, sharply serrate with long terminal tooth. Stipules 4 at each node, free. Flowers in slender axillary spikes or racemes up to 10 cm; male and female inflorescences similar. Flowers small, greenish, 4-merous. Achenes 1–1.5 mm.
