Ίρις η Αττική (Iris attica Boiss. & Heldr.)
With a stout, sparingly branched rhizome at or just below ground level. Stem lacking or short; plant generally 8–15 cm tall. Leaves 40–100 × 4–8 mm, falcate. Flowers solitary, bluish-purple, yellow or whitish (often different colour forms in the same population); spathes unequal, rounded or the outer slightly keeled; hypanthial tube 4–9 cm, slender. Outer perianth segments (falls) 35–60 mm, recurved, bearded along midvein; inner perianth segments (standards) similar in size, erect, distinctly clawed. Seeds subglobose, pale brown.
