Crocus cancellatus subsp. mazziaricus (Herb.) B.Mathew.
Corm rather large (15–25 mm in diam.), broadly ovoid; tunics coarsely reticulate-fibrous, produced into a bristly neck. Leaves appearing with or usually soon after the flowers, 4–7, greyish-green, with broad whitish median stripe. Flowers 1–3, appearing in September–November, usually pale lilac with faintly yellow throat; perianth segments elliptical, subacute, with brownish-purple stripes externally towards base ± continuing into tube. Anthers yellow. Style yellow to orange, divided into several branches, exceeding anthers.
