Lemna minor L.
Minute aquatic herb with free-floating, broadly elliptical to suborbicular fronds 1.5–4 mm, solitary or in small groups, sometimes completely covering the water surface. Fronds flat, green on both sides, with 3 inconspicuous veins above, finely reticulate beneath. Each frond with a single, filiform, submerged root usually 5–20 mm. Flowers rarely produced, enclosed in a dorsal cavity, consisting of 1 stamen and 1 ovary; ovule and seed solitary.
