Annual, usually branched from base, 5–20 cm tall. Stem usually retrorsely eglandular-puberulent below and shortly and patently glandular-pubescent above. All leaves (except sometimes the lowermost) sessile, broadly elliptic-ovate, acute to acuminate, 3-veined. Flowers in lax, irregular dichasia with leaf-like bracts. Sepals 3–5 mm, ovate-lanceolate, acute to acuminate, 3–5-veined. Petals shorter than sepals. Capsule ovoid, rather abruptly narrowed at apex, equalling or slightly exceeding sepals, with indurate walls. Seeds 0.5–0.7 mm, dull blackish, tuberculate.
