Paspalum distichum L. συνώνυμο Paspalum paspalodes (Michx.) Scribn.
Paspalum dilatatum: Tufted perennial with short rhizomes. Culms ascending to erect, robust, generally 40–100 cm tall. Leaf sheaths sparsely pilose; ligule short, membranous; blade flat, up to 15 mm wide, with conspicuous midrib. Inflorescence of 3–10 racemes arranged on an axis 5–15 cm long. Each raceme 4–8(–15) cm, with several spikelets unilaterally arranged on a flattered, narrowly winged rhachis. Spikelets c. 3.5 mm, broadly elliptic-ovate, pale greenish, fringed with long white hairs; the single fertile floret with smooth, crustaceous lemma; feathery style branches persistent, blackish.
Resembling P. dilatatum, but smaller, with far-creeping rhizomes; culms decumbent to ascending, 20–45 cm; inflorescence a pair of racemes usually 2–6 cm; spikelets somewhat smaller and narrower, ± glabrous.
