Juncus articulatus L.
Laxly caespitose or shortly rhizomatous perennial. Stem usually 10–40 cm, with 0–2 basal sheaths and 3–5 green leaves; the latter subterete, unitubulose, septate (septa noticable as small knots when the leaf is pulled between two fingers). Inflorescence usually wide and lax, composed of numerous heads each with 5–15 flowers. Perianth segments 2.5–3.5 mm, usually subequal and acute, greenish-brown. Capsule slightly exceeding perianth, ovoid-trigonous, usually acute.
