Hedypnois rhagadioloides (L.) F.W.Schmidt
Annual, decumbent to suberect, with sparingly branched stems 5–25 cm, sometimes short and compact with swollen stems and peduncles. Leaves broadly oblanceolate, dentate to lobed. Phyllaries in 2 rows, the outer very small, the inner incurved, swollen and indurate in fruit, ± enclosing the outer achenes. Receptacle without scales. Ligules yellow. Achenes 5–8 mm. Pappus of outer achenes usually reduced to a corona; inner achenes with pappus of narrow, aristate scales.
