Halimione portulacoides (L.) Aellen συν: Atriplex portulacoides L.
Much-branched subshrub, 20–100 cm tall. Stems pale, angular. Leaves mostly opposite, subsessile to short-petiolate; blade 1.5–5 cm, elliptic-oblong, subobtuse, entire, somewhat fleshy, glaucous to silvery-lepidote. Inflorescence lax, paniculate, with flowers in small, rather remote clusters. Bracteoles 2–4 × 3–5 mm, deltoid (broadest towards apex), shallowly 3-lobed, united almost to apex, somewhat fleshy. Seed vertical, lenticular, c. 2 mm in diam., black and shiny.
