Rubus sanctus Schreb.
High-arching shrub forming dense thickets. Stem robust, angled, pruinose and usually stellate-pubescent. Prickles strong and broad-based, curved, usually dark red with yellowish apex; acicles and stalked glands absent. Leaves (3–)5-foliolate; leaflets broadly obovate, not contiguous, usually sparsely pubescent above and densely white-tomentose beneath; terminal leaflet long-stalked. Inflorescence usually narrow, conical. Sepals white-tomentose. Petals c. 10 mm, suborbicular, pale to deep pink. Fruit consisting of small and rather dry druplets, blackish when ripe.
