Lonicera implexa Aiton
Lonicera etrusca: Deciduous woody climber. Stems 3–5 m; twigs terete, often purplish. Leaves opposite, 3–6 cm, subsessile, simple, broadly elliptical to obovate, obtuse, entire, glabrous or puberulent beneath. Uppermost pair of leaves connate. Inflorescence capitate, terminal, solitary or usually 3 together on peduncles 2–4 cm. Calyx very small, 5-lobed. Corolla 4–5 cm, pale yellow tinged pink or purple; tube narrow, ± glandular-puberulent, up to twice as long as limb; limb zygomorphic, with 4-lobed upper lip and broadly linear lower lip. Stamens and style long-exserted. Fruit a red berry, 4–8 berries aggregated in a dense head.
Differing from L. etrusca in the following characters: More or less evergreen; leaves often smaller, slightly coriaceous, broadly oblong, glaucous beneath, the uppermost 2 or 3 pairs connate; inflorescence sessile; corolla tube relatively longer; stamens and style only slightly exserted.
